Tools Used In This Guide:
Make sure you have the latest firmware version 3.1.2 and the latest iTunes version 9.0.2.
For the unlock it is for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS with baseband version 05.11.07. To find out if you have the latest baseband go to Settings>General>About>Modem Firmware.
If you are using a 2G iPhone use Bootnueter in the Cydia package manager instead of the blacksn0w unlock.
Once you have made sure you have all the correct settings plug in your iPhone and start blackra1n.
Click make it ra1n and the jailbreaking process will begin. It will put your iPhone in recovery mode with a picture of the creator of the unlock geohot. Once your iPhone has rebooted go to the last page of your springboard and you will see an app called blackra1n. Make sure you have an internet connection on your iPhone before you open it up. When it loads you will get to this screen.
Select Cydia/Rock if you just want a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch, but if you want the unlock for the 3G/3GS select sn0w too. It should load and then respring springboard and reset commcenter. You should now have a fully unlocked and jailbroken iPhone. If your carrier doesn't support a 3G network disable it
